CME PROGRAMME

  1. A 3 day Asian and Oceanian movement Disorder Educational summit-2010 was organized by the Hames Parkinsons Movement Disorder Research centre, Kannur Medical College, in August 2010. More than 200 delegates from India and abroad attended and presented papers.
  2. On 18th of May 2011 Dr. Satheesan Balasubrahmanian, preent director of Malabar Cancer Centr, and one among the most famed Oncologists in Kerala, made a presentation on ‘Breast Cancer Practical Management Strategies’. The talk explored over the latest treatment approaches to the disease as well as its puzzling clinical profiles.
  3. On 8th of June 2011, we had the delight to have another eminent clinician as orator. Dr. Biju is the consultant gastroenterologist at Malabar Institute of medical Sciences, Calicut. He lectured on ‘An approach to upper GI bleed’. The speaker emphasized on emergency management of the problem and elaborated gracefully upon the latest diagnostic and therapeutic schemes.
  4. On 22nd of June 2011, Dr. Ramesh who is a well-known neuros on the ‘Management of head injury’ by urgeon in north Kerala, presently offering his services at Co-operative Hospital, Thalassery, spoke on the diverse clinical presentations of intracranial trauma. He shared his experiences in neurosurgery and deliberated on the treatment options.
  5. The talks were attended by students as well as faculty members of our institution. The lectures were followed by sessions of discussion of where the listeners could add facts; express their opinion and clear doubts if any. The talks were appealing as well as informative.
  6. Dr. Satheesh Subramanyan, Onco Surgeon, Malabar Cancer Centre, gave a talk on 18th May 2011 on ‘breast cancer – practical management strategies’.
  7. Dr Ramesh, Neuro Surgeon, Tellicherry, talked on ‘management of head injury’ in one of the CME programmes on 22nd June 2011.
  8. Regular CME programmes are held in the Campus, twice in a month, utilizing the expertise and experience of Professors of Kannur Medical College, on various subjects.

 

RNTCP
We have hosted a conference on RNTCP (revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme) on 10-03-2011 at our Medical College, in which representatives from 22 medical colleges in the state were present, along with TB Specialists from district TB centers in the state. The tri-monthly review meeting of the state level task force was also held. Our doctors & students were much beneficially.

ORS DAY OBSERVED
ORS (Oral Rehydration Salt) Day was observed on 30th July 2011, at the Hospital premises.  There were classes by experts and also painting exhibition.  The initiative was taken by the Department ofm Paedeatrics.

WORLD HEART DAY
Department of Cardiovascular Sciences organized a public meeting at the Hospital premises to observe the ‘World Heart Day’ on 29th September 2011.  The whole week was dedicated for providing concessional treatment, including heart surgery, to economically weaker patients.

ANTI TB WEEK LAUNCHED
National Anti TB Week was launched in Medical College on 17th February 2012, in association with District T.B. Association and the Indian Medical Association.
